Jaun-hundred

Whenever we take the kids off unit (to places like the gym, cafeteria, playground, etc.) we have the kids count off through every door. This way we can easily keep track of how many kids we have with us and make sure no one has run off in between doors.
Anyway, there is almost always some issue. Someone not paying attention and having no idea what their number is or kids counting in Spanish leading to the next kid having no idea what their number should be.
Last week we had an ADORABLE little 6 year old named Juan. A smart alek no doubt, but still adorable. He loves to be oppositional and mess up the numbers in line on purpose, or say things like, "Yes I want ketchup. Duh!"
So we were walking to the gym and he was the last in line. We told the kids to say their number loud going through the gate, as there were several construction men replacing a sidewalk nearby. So we have the usual:
"ONE!" "Two!" "THREE!!" "four" "five" "SIX" "SEVEN!!!!" "eight" "nine" "Ten" "eleven" then came Juan's turn... "ONE HUNDRED!!!!!!!"
It is really hard to redirect kids to follow directions when you are laughing.
